Sam Gilbert Bratton (August 19, 1888 – September 22, 1963) was a United States federal judge.
Born in Kosse, Texas, Bratton read law to enter the bar in 1909. He was in private practice in Farwell, Texas from 1909 to 1915. He was in private practice in Clovis, New Mexico from 1915 to 1918. He was a judge on the Fifth Judicial District of New Mexico from 1919 to 1922. He was an Associate justice, New Mexico Supreme Court from 1923 to 1924. He was a U.S. Senator from New Mexico from 1925 to 1933.
Bratton was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Bratton was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 1, 1933, to a seat vacated by John Hazelton Cotteral. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 1, 1933, and received his commission the same day. He served as chief judge from 1956-1959. He assumed senior status on March 1, 1961. Bratton served in that capacity until September 22, 1963, due to his death.
